you can’t cross from listening to Silence — there’s no you in Silence
Maui, near Haiku –
clouds break against the mountain,
birds chant in falling rain
bare branches soak in silence
broken once only
by the cry of a crow
all talk of the Way
breaks the silence,
some with good cause
the Unsayable when spoken is silence
thoughts like clouds
break upon the mountain,
pouring rain, chanting birds
good days, bad days, indifferent days,
behind and between the thoughts –
silence and an accompanying light
falling rain
chanting birds
clouds embrace the mountain
drenched in silence, fog
crickets
beginning the night
